Cross processing

Cross Processing (Camera Raw) - Cross processing (Xpro) is an effect that many photographers use in their fashion work to give a stylised creative look to your photographs.  In the darkroom Cross Processing your film is achieved by developing your colour film in a different chemical, for example: C41 - E6 or vice-versa. I find that cross processing is amazing in the darkroom and I have researched how to do it digitally. The key to digital cross processing is Curves which you can access in Photoshop, Light room or even camera raw.

Tilt and shift

Tilt and shift

What is tilt and shift?
Tilt and Shift photography is a technique that can be created on Photoshop or you can purchase lenses that are called ‘Tilt-Shift Lens’. My interpretation of this particular technique is basically taking a photograph and blurring out the majority of the image.
A Tilt-Shift lens is something that will allow you too move the body of the lens in time to the cameras image sensor.
This technique works by creating a shallow depth of field but this is not technically a shallow depth of field it is to do with how you tilt the lens. Tilting the lens allows you to increase or decrease the amount of image that actually focuses.

I have researched a photographer who hired a helicopter to fly around Birmingham so he could use a tilt-shift lens. People who use Tilt-Shift mostly use this technique for architecture.

Here are some examples of Tom Merilion’s images from his ‘Concrete dreams’ series.

Below is the Tilt-Shift that I created, the top image is the before and the bottom is the after.

Diptych and Triptych

Diptych & Triptych

I have done a bit of research on Diptych and Triptych and it shows that they came from the Greek, Two (dip) Three (trip) and Fold (tych) I found this out from (http://photography.tutsplus.com/tutorials/diptychs-and-triptychs-playing-with-photo-stories-and-unexpected-combinations--cms-23499 )
Diptych and Triptych came persificatly from art, which was divided into sections but has became something that is used a lot now in the art world, especially photography. Diptych and Triptych would be great to use for a series of images that you may of taken so they are all from the same environment and about the same thing to show a story, as obvious as it may sound, Diptych is designed for two photographs or other art forms and Triptych is for three pieces of work.

First step of creating a Diptych/Triptych is opening up Photoshop, going to file & new.

This document will come up and where it says Document type click on international paper and change the size to A4 and press ok.

I then opened up two photos that I wanted to use on Photoshop and then cropped it down to the size I wanted.
